The cover is the brainchild of Rob Mickelson. The riflescope cross-hairs have been placed in their rather unusual position to reflect the results of a science demonstration that produced hysterical results in the author’s college physics class. But carefully hidden in the graphic is a rational inconsistency. The picture could only exist as the result of Virtual Reality. Most people accept the graphic without question, even though it is impossible. Most people also accept the persistent rational inconsistency of those who claim to stand on the ground of pure reason.
